If you’re thinking of life in Bedford, N.H., you’ll find plenty of reasons to make a move. The city is prosperous, with much natural beauty and history preserved. Here are a few things to look forward to when choosing Bedford, New Hampshire real estate.

The best life has to offer

Bedford is a prime example of New England’s rustic yet sophisticated appeal. Residents of this community enjoy a perfect blend of rural and city life. Bedford’s arboreal and rocky terrain differentiates the town from larger cities like Manchester and Boston. Access to two airports, Manchester-Boston Regional Airport and Boston Logan International, make domestic and international travel convenient. It’s no mystery why Bedford consistently ranks among the best suburbs in New Hampshire.

Bedford has an idyllic setting and central location in the heart of New England: you can easily travel to Massachusetts, Vermont, and Connecticut via I-93, Route 3, and the 101. The thrilling lakes and mountains of New Hampshire are short, scenic day trips away from Bedford. You can get to Weirs Beach at Lake Winnipesaukee or drive the Kancamagus Scenic Byway through the White Mountains Region. Mountain hiking, camping, swimming, and surfing are popular summer events. Skiers and snowboarders have ample chance to hit the slopes, as winters bring 58 inches of snowfall, on average.

Exceptional schools

The Bedford School District is a well-regarded school system — its schools ranks among the best for student-athletes and teachers. The district’s three elementary, two middle, and one high school are top-rung. Bedford is also home to Primrose a popular private preschool. The high school graduation rate is 94%, and students score competitively on standardized tests. Bedford High School provides fantastic activities to get involved in, like the rowing club and other organizations.

Students are motivated by the prospect of attending nearby colleges and universities. Not far from Bedford are institutions like Saint Anselm College, UNH Manchester and Durham Campuses, and Southern New Hampshire University.  With Massachusetts next door, the influence of Harvard, MIT, and Northeastern University is strong. Besides preparing students, New England academia attracts successful professionals with its prolific emphasis on learning.

A flourishing economy

Bedford real estate owners believe in the growth and improvement of their town. Bedford has a share of successful businesses and is a proud member of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. A plethora of small businesses, real estate companies and associates services such as lawyers and title services, banks, restaurants, shops, car dealerships and office buildings encompass the various commercially zoned areas of Bedford along South River Rd and Route 101 toward Amherst. Fidelity Investments and Comcast, next door in Manchester, contribute to the regional economy.

Community events

Bedford’s heritage dates back to the late 18th century, and its communal atmosphere remains. At The Craftworkers' Guild, citizens come together to appreciate locally made arts and crafts. Membership in this association includes monthly meetings, presentations, and gatherings of people with a common interest. Every season, the Guild puts on fairs at the Oliver Kendall House for the public to appreciate their work. Local pride radiates throughout the town at such events.

Lively diversions

Convenience and amusement are easily found in town or just over the town line in Manchester. The SEE Science Center is a worthwhile stop for kids of all ages. The Sun, Earth, and Universe presentation is part of a nationwide partnership with NASA. Their Millyard Lego Exhibit earned recognition from Guinness World Records. The center is geared towards adults and kids, encouraging STEM activities and aptitude achievement.

Pulpit Rock is a cherished sanctuary among the locals. This spectacular wilderness stop, named “Bedford’s Natural Treasure,” offers bird watching, hiking, sparkling waterfalls, and much more. The vast openness is home to various species of flora, such as hemlock, pine, and hardwood — 10 hiking trails of varying difficulty traverse 338 acres.

An exclusive country club

The glamorous Manchester Country Club celebrates its centennial anniversary in 2023. Its golf course was designed by Donald Ross and has hosted dozens of tournaments in the last 100 years. While the club draws guests of all ages, the experience is serene and feels far removed from daily life in Bedford. The Club is a perfect site for elegant events such as weddings, galas, holiday festivals, and the like. MCC is also one of the Troon Family resorts, a collection of unbelievable amusement centers in 36 states and 32 countries.
