Local Lifestyle

Patrons of Exeter enjoy visiting the town center. It's where some of the best shops and coffee spots reside. There are trendy businesses mixed with older and beloved establishments that have served the community well over the years.

Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping

Me & Ollie's Bakery & Cafe is the town's well-loved coffee shop. Visit daily at 7 am, or 8 am on the weekends, to grab your morning pick-me-up. They also serve some customer-favorite foods for breakfast and lunch, such as their egg and cheese sandwich, pesto veggie sandwich, chicken avocado wrap, turkey and smoked mozzarella, and Asian chicken sesame salad.

Oba Noodle Bar is a popular choice for lunch or dinner. Get a quick bite of shrimp chips or cucumber salad, a small plate of vegetable dumplings or pork gyoza, or a main dish like oba ramen or duck noodle soup. They also serve sorbet for dessert in tropical flavors like coconut, pineapple, or mango.

Lots of eclectic shops provide unique offerings. Whirlygigs Toy Shop is a favored establishment. Aside from toys, you can also find arts and crafts and puzzles. Ask the clerk to wrap your purchase if it's intended as a gift.

Forest + Ash Design Company + Shop is a home goods store. They sell curated gifts and designer goods to help spruce up your living space. Hardware pieces, artwork, kitchen gadgets, tabletop designs, candles, and throws are all available.

The Water Street Bookstore is also well-rated, and for good reason. This shop is the best spot in town for readers. Many author talks and signings are held here, and you can also find an assortment of already-signed selections. Whether you're looking for a thriller to keep you on the edge of your seat or a cookbook to create a new concoction at home, this store has a wide variety of choices to meet your needs.

Things to Do

Numerous festivals and events occupy your time in Exeter. The Exeter Arts and Music Festival tends to occur in May, while the Fall Festival and Powderkeg Beer and Chili Festival occur in October. There is also the usual holiday parade that the community flocks to in December, where registered participants can win awards for having the best display, being the most jolly, or using the best-themed design.

The Exeter Country Club is also somewhere you can spend your time. This public club is the best golfing spot in town. Enjoy your time on the green and then get your fill at The Grille, their on-site restaurant. You can pick your choice of grab-and-go foods for fast service.
